𝗔𝗹𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 is a very special painting. It has led me into a new style of expression, where I first began incorporating texture + various forms of mixed media into my abstract paintings. Since then, I’ve created many works deriving from 𝗔𝗹𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀.⁣

I originally described this style as “𝘈𝘝𝘔 𝘔𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘮𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘴𝘮,” which may have an outward appearance of minimalism, however, not minimal at all, but the opposite. The use of ivory paint + light colors radiate a lightness + ambiance of simplicity, however the several layers of texture, adhesives, + paint provide a topography across the canvas terrain. ⁣

There are two key phrases within 𝗔𝗹𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀. The first at the top right corner, partially hidden by layers of paint + the overlap of the corner is, “𝘏𝘰𝘸 𝘥𝘰 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘥𝘰 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸, 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘢 𝘱𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘴 𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘴𝘩𝘦𝘥? Which was purportedly asked to the abstract painter Jackson Pollock, where he answers with this question: “𝘏𝘰𝘸 𝘥𝘰𝘦𝘴 𝘢 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘰𝘯 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘱 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦?”⁣

The second phrase, in the middle (also partially hidden by layers of paint), is “𝘐 𝘱𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘵 𝘱𝘪𝘦𝘤𝘦 𝘣𝘺 𝘱𝘪𝘦𝘤𝘦. 𝘗𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘪𝘴 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘐 𝘴𝘦𝘦𝘬. 𝘈𝘭𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴.”⁣

Upon pursuing art as my career, the word “𝘈𝘭𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴” has been my tag line. It is how I close my emails + handwritten letters. I find it to be such a powerful word. “𝘈𝘭𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴” represents eternity; an element or essence of being everlasting + ever present, constant + consistent. 𝗔𝗹𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 is what I strive to give, exude, and live in my daily life. ⁣
